ONE KING, SIX QUEENS
AND A DOG CALLED STANLEY!

This unique show tells Henry VIII’s story in his own words, with the ghosts of his Queens and principal courtiers., coming back to haunt him. Oh and his dog gets in on the act too.

Ken the curator of a museum is setting out a display of items from Tudor times for a lecture that is being given that day. To be honest he is not that interested in that period and can't wait to finish. The phone rings to say the lecturer is delayed, and can he entertain the audience until the lecturer arrives. Ken does his best, picking up some of the objects and tries to talk about them and then he finds a hat that belonged to Wil Somers, the Kings Jester and tries it on.

Suddenly there is a noise from outside, and a magnificent King Henry VIII comes crashing into the room shouting for Wil and demanding a drink.

The show features 2 actors a host of puppets, specially composed music and stunning historically accurate costumes.

It is vividly entertaining with a mixture of high drama and low comedy.

The show first opened in April of 2006 and since then the concept has been drawing rave reviews from all who have seen the show.
Below are some quotes from some of the letters and reviews we receive.

“I came to see your show in Cambridge last Wednesday with my son (aged 10). I just wanted to let you know that I thought it was superb, and my son and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I home educate him, and although we have studied the Tudors you brought Henry to life, and covered the material in such an interesting and imaginative way.” Cambridge Festival

“Perfect for classes studying the Tudors - funny and absolutely spot on for the age range - this show ticks all the right boxes”
Liz Hills - Headteacher of Ilderton School

“Its a wonderfully entertaining and inspiring performance which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The puppets were incredible as were the amazing, extremely authentic costumes. The show rounded off our Tudor Day and was followed by 'an audience with the King' which enhanced the children's learning and gave them an experience they would never forget! Thank you! We shall be in touch soon to discuss a date for next year!” Louise Low - Pitmaston Primary, Worcester

"The show was informative, highly educational but in a light hearted way. My children really enjoyed looking at the puppets after the show and didn't really realise they were learning” The Studio Theatre, Petersfield

"If history lessons had been like this, Id have learnt a bit more when I was at school. Having grabbed our attention and got us chuckling, On the Other Hand keep us hooked – sometimes through laughter but sometimes by stirring other emotions. There are tender moments, there are scary moments, there are very sad moments. Henry's line of Queens, Cardinal Wolsey and the unfortunate Cromwell are depicted by rather beautiful table-top puppets - Schools should be queuing up to book it”

“I have had nothing but good reports, we must book you again”
