London born, Ken Haines founded his company, On The Other Hand, in 1985 but he has been involved in puppetry for more than thirty years. He has worked in film and is a regular on TV and theatre. For the National Theatre, his work was seen in "Mountain Giants", and "Dragon".

With a firm belief that it is not necessary to talk down to children to entertain and engage them, On The Other Hand has become known for its thought-provoking and highly enjoyable shows; with images and laughter that stay long after the performance has ended.

Through a mixture of puppetry and storytelling the company has captured the imaginations of young and old alike and there are plenty of jokes for the grown ups - they are after all the ones that bring the children and they deserve a bit of fun too.

On The Other Hand’s work with puppetry for adults has become well know in the UK and in Europe. Penny Francis MBE said of Moving Tales,

“The piece is a classic in Britain where it is invariably received with much applause.”

He has worked for the Upstream Children's Theatre, Caravanserai and has performed and directed at The Little Angel Marionette, London.

On a rather larger scale, Ken is also one of the plant operators for the musical 'Little Shop of Horrors', his last production being with Su Pollard.
